“OKATJERU GAME FARM AND SAFARI CAMP”
is a family owned and run operation situated on a 6500 hectare (16 000 acre)
game – proof fenced mixed cattle and hunting farm
in the Central Highlands of Namibia.
We are situated about 1 ½ hours north of our capital city, Windhoek;
as well as 1 hour north of the Windhoek International Airport, so there
will be no need for a long drive to your hunting area upon your arrival
in Namibia.
We strive to maintain that easy going, family – orientated atmosphere here
on our farm and hope that, although you might arrive here as a stranger,
you will leave our shores as a member of our extended family.
Despite our easy – going nature, you can be assured of a hunt of a lifetime
here at Okatjeru and your trophies will meet, if not exceed your greatest
expectations. Let our (and your) efforts show on your wall for all to see.
In addition, we strive to offer you an ethical, fair chase hunt. Not only
will you be able to pit your wits against a most worthy adversary – your
quarry; you will also have the opportunity to experience the wonders of
the bush – from the small flower struggling to survive amongst the barren
rocks to the colourful spiders, birdlife and last, but not least, the
breathtaking landscapes of gently rolling hills, dotted with thorn trees
and bushes; interspersed with vast open valleys blanketed in copper
coloured grass!
Our farm boasts a wide variety of game, including Eland, Kudu, Oryx,
Red Hartebeest, Giraffe, Springbuck, Zebra, Warthog, Klipspringer,
Ostrich, Aardwolf, Bat Eared Fox, Black Backed Jackal, Lynx, Baboon,
Leopard and Cheetah. In addition, we offer an even greater variety of
game on our concession areas such as Blue and Black Wildebeest, Blesbok,
Impala, Waterbuck and much more. If we don’t have what you are looking
for, we’ll go out of our way to find it for you.
In order to ensure an affordable hunting experience, OKATJERU HUNTING
SAFARIS has created a number of custom designed Hunting Packages which we
offer in conjunction with our normal hunts. Each one of these packages
has been designed after a great deal of input from our various hunting
clients from around the world. If you find that our packages do not meet
your needs, please give us a call and let’s see if we can build on an
existing package that will suit you. Who knows, if your package works,
we can offer it as a new hunt to other hunters.
In order to ensure that personal touch, your hunt will be led by Royston
Wright, joint owner of OKATJERU HUNTING SAFARIS, a registered member of
SCI International, SCI Alaska and the Namibian Professional Hunting
Association with 10 years of experience in the hunting industry. "It’s
my reputation, so I’ll deliver!"
The summer months here in Namibia begin in September and last until
April with temperatures ranging between 25 – 35 degrees Celsius
(77 – 104 Fahrenheit). During the months from December until March,
the heat of the day is broken by the usual afternoon thunderstorm.
In contrast, our winter weather is decidedly cooler, with temperatures
anywhere between 17 – 24 degrees Celsius (62 – 75 Fahrenheit). The winter
nights are, however, decidedly chilly and warm clothing is strongly
recommended.
Our hunting season begins on the 1st of February and continues until the
30th of November of every year. We
believe that the best time to hunt is during the period April to October.
Most of the animals on the farm are taken at ranges of between 100 and 200
meters. We recommend that you use a weapon of a .270 calibre or higher when
hunting most of the plains game here in Namibia.
Due to the nature of the terrain on our farm, as well as the weather, we
recommend that light clothing in neutral colours be worn when hunting.
Strong, durable shoes, preferably covering the ankles are a must when
traversing the hills on our farm. A hat and sunscreen are essential; and
sunglasses are strongly recommended to ward off the rays of the African
sun. For more information, please click on the

When arriving in Namibia, a member of the Wright family will meet you at
the airport. From there, you will be transported to our farm in a comfortable,
air – conditioned 4X4 vehicle. Who knows, your trip to the farm could well
be the beginning of your African safari, given the large amount of animals
that you will see along the route.
Guests on our farm can choose between the luxuriously appointed guest suites
at the main farmhouse, or, for the more adventurous or budget conscious
amongst you, at our tented chalets at Bobbejaan Dam. Meals are served in
our well - appointed lapa, or around the campfire at Bobbejaan Dam; where
you can enjoy traditional African cuisine whilst admiring our spectacular
evening sunsets, overlooking a waterhole.
Most of our hunters prefer to stay at our Bobbejaan Dam Tented Chalets,
for, as the saying goes, "If it Ain’t Under Canvass, it Ain’t Hunting"!
If the wife and kids are joining you, not to worry, as each tent is well
appointed with all the luxuries and amenities that only true Namibian
hospitality can offer you. For more information about where you would
want to stay during your hunt with us, click on the

At OKATJERU HUNTING SAFARIS, we do our best not only to
ensure an enjoyable hunting experience, but a safe one as well. However,
due to the fact that hunting, by nature, is a dangerous activity, we strongly
advise all our clients to arrange their own insurance prior to hunting with us.
IF THIS ALL SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, DON’T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT;

I’LL GLADLY FORWARD THEIR CONTACT DETAILS TO YOU.
